General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

There are many infective agents, that cause these symptoms, these infections generally are contagious, and spread easily through, cough and sharing kisses.

Her boyfriend might have the same infection as your daughter since these are contagious.

If your daughter's cough hasn't improved, I suggest you give her antibiotic treatment (Cefalexin), and mucolytics to ease her cleaning the mucus on her lungs.

Also, her boyfriend can take the same treatment and Ibuprofen for a sore throat and body aches.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
